The Dallas Cowboys have a slightly stronger Home Field Advantage rating of 3 ½ as opposed to the Patriots 3 point rating and therefore Dallas is the Power Rating leader going into week 1.






Showing the different between the “haves' and “have nots” of the NFL, only Indianapolis breaks the 100 Power Rating Mark in addition to the top two. There is a large middle of the pack base and then a slew of weak clubs like Detroit and Miami at 87.5 and Baltimore at 87. The weakest team in the league is the Kansas City Chiefs with only an 86 rating.

College Football Notes “At a Glantz”


Did you know that (?) . . .


N.C. State gained just 138 total yards (89 rushing & 49 passing) at South Carolina (South Carolina 34-2).


Oregon State out-gained Stanford 490-301 and WR Catchings was stripped of the ball while reaching for the end zone for a touchback rather than the tying TD late in the game (Stanford 36-28).






Army won the stats 268-250 (total yards) and time of possession 37:05-22:55 but Temple’s defense and special teams got the money . . . Temple scored first after Army’s muffed punt at the 8 yard line, scored on a 17 yard fumble return in the 2nd quarter, and returned the 2nd half opening kickoff 98 yards for a TD. (Temple 35-7).






The score was closer then the game played out as Utah led 25-10 with just under 9:00 remaining in the 4th quarter; out-gaining Michigan 341-203 at Ann Arbor.






Minnesota scored with 22 seconds remaining to beat Northern Illinois.






Clemson rushed 14 times for zero yards, scored their only TD on a 96 yard kickoff return and lost the time of possession battle 18:47-41:13 (Alabama 34-10).






Idaho gained only 112 total yards and turned the ball over 5 times (Arizona 70-0).






McNeese State 22-13 in 1st downs, 391-384 in total yards and 35:16-24:44 in time of possession but lost 35-27 at North Carolina.






Cal Poly 29-27 in an upset, 483 -379 in total yards and 38:00-22:00 in time of possession at San Diego State
